Geospatial extraction from print media
Our client, a leader in publishing, wished to derived a structured geospatial dataset from the content of their printed publications, for use in a new range of digital products and for marketing to new partners.
Working with a range of data sources including MS Word, Adobe InDesign, MS Excel and proprietary formats, we aggregated this data into a core database before extracting 'meaning' from the data, such as geographical latitude/longitude, tidal heights and times, rating, local facilities and contacts. An XML output was generated for this which could be reintroduced into a content management or typesetting system for production of multiple publications, or integration into third-party systems.
We continue to provide consultancy and technical expertise to the client and are currently assisting in the design of new digital products based on this dataset.
Portsmouth Samaritans Shop & Suport Network
Using our charityCLICKS toolkit we developed a shopping portal for supporters of The Portsmouth and East Hampshire Samaritans to raise money while they shop online.
